#i’ve kept pretty quiet about the whole you coming ‘home’ thing because i could have written the script before last night even happened #you’re not perfect; you said and did some things when you were with us that even now still rile me up so let’s get those out there #you said united treated you like a ‘slave’; you lied to our faces about wanting to stay and about intending to stay #your petulance; your theatrics; your tantrums; your perceived arrogance… they all made you far more enemies than they did friends #maybe it’s a difficult pill to swallow because of the circumstances but we shouldn’t be afraid of expressing our annoyance even now #but you stayed for that extra year; you wanted to leave but giggsy and sir alex asked you to stay… and you did #real madrid was your dream but you stayed when you were probably more than entitled to call it a day and move on#a lot of people had it in for you and the supporters could have turned against you #maybe other sets of fans would have had you played for their club #but you always always always had us #and i think in time you realised just how much you depended on us #you’re a fine young man and i am thankful and grateful for everything you did for us in those six years #there’s a reason we’ve still got a soft spot for you #there’s a reason we still sing your name #there’s a reason you got that reception at old trafford #there’s a reason some supporters can’t let you go#because you’re a winner at all costs and so are we #whilst you were dazzling us all with your tricks and wonder goals #resilience and not knowing when to quit is something you learned from us #but the best part is that beneath it all you’re still that goofy young ‘un from madeira#and at one point in time you were ours and there aren’t many sets of supporters who are able to say that
